Meurtre et mystère - suite
- Liaisons
- Accents
- Jeu : Clue
Nous avons relu le texte tout en nous penchant sur la question des liaisons et des accents. Nous avons ensuite joué à Clue, le jeu de meurtre mystère.
Accents et symboles
The grave accent on a (à) does not change the pronunciation of a. It simply distinguishes "a" (as in Il a - He has) from à (preposition meaning to). E.g. "Il a du travail à faire." - He has work to do.
Same idea with the grave accent on u in où, which distinguishes "ou" (or) from "où" (where).
However, the grave accent on là (there), changes the pronunciation from "la" (the, feminine).
The circumflex accent almost always changes the pronunciation of a vowel, giving it more emphasis... sort of like dragging out its sound. E.g. hôtel, hôpital have an exaggerated "o" sound.
The cedilla under c (ç) is required whenever it is followed by a "hard" vowel (a, o, u) to make an "sss" sound. E.g. leçon, garçon. C is always pronounced "sss" before e and i, the "soft" vowels. Without the cedilla, however, c makes a "k" sound before a, o and u.
Vocabulaire
- décalage horaire - jetlag
- tueur, meutrier (m) - murderer
